Tailwheel and High Performance/complex Training
why pursue tailwheel and high performnace/complex training?
We offer advanced training and endorsements in both tailwheel and high performance/complex aircraft. Usually it takes between 5-10 hours for pilots to obtain the endorsements. We recommend you complete this training in subsequent days to get the maximum value from it.
The tailwheel training will help you fine tune your aircraft handling and control. By the time you have your tailwheel endorsement, you will be more comfortable with tricky, crosswind landings. Plus it is about as much fun as you can have in an aircraft!
The high performance endorsement allows you to step up from our trainer aircraft and into something faster and with more complex systems. A high-performance endorsement is required for pilots who wish to fly aircraft with more than 200 horsepower, and a complex endorsement allows pilots to operate aircraft with retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable-pitch propeller. This endorsement is also a requirement for commercial pilot training. We offer both at Monadnock Choppers!
Advanced training is enormously valuable for flying because it enhances your skills, knowledge, and safety, allowing you to handle more complex aircraft and challenging flight conditions.
Ultimately, advanced training increases a pilot's confidence and competence, making them safer and more proficient in the cockpit of any aircraft they fly.
Our training
-
Tailwheel
Tailwheel training is important because it hones essential piloting skills, particularly in aircraft handling and control. Tailwheel aircraft, with their different center of gravity and ground handling characteristics, require more precise rudder and brake usage, especially during takeoff and landing. This training sharpens a pilot's stick-and-rudder skills, enhances their ability to manage crosswinds, and improves overall situational awareness. Mastering a tailwheel aircraft can make a pilot more adaptable, proficient, and confident, not only in tailwheel planes but in all types of aircraft, contributing to safer and more skilled flying.

High Performance/Complex
High performance/complex aircraft offer greater speed and capability, but also require more refined control and understanding of aircraft dynamics. Training for this endorsement includes mastering the increased power, handling the aircraft's higher speeds, and managing more complex systems, such as constant-speed propellers and retractable landing gear. These systems add layers of complexity to flying that require additional knowledge and skill. Earning these endorsements not only expands the range of aircraft you can fly but also significantly enhances your overall piloting skills.
